The installation can go both way wired as well as wireless. IP cameras can be accessed from any where with there particular IP. they are sort of network CCTV camera different from analog camera. The data transfered from them requires M-JPEG or MPEG-4 compression. IP cameras require broad band as video streaming cants be done with the dial up networks speed.

IP CCTV are mostly suggested at school,banks , home where we need to see site from the remote location. IP camera are replacing the market of the analogue cameras. FOR the better surveillance IP cameras are the best integrated solution along with the DVR that is digital video recorder. In IP camera the data transfered is encrypted so it has no risk of being viewed by unauthorized person. 

There are two different type of configuration required to be done

•  Configuration for remote access
• Configuration for local access

Some of the companies providing IP cameras is Panasonic, y cam, milestone, axis, mobitix etc. Even IP walls are also provided by certain company to mnitor there CCTV camera.
